Got this gun recently for my birthday, and sold my beloved Euro 110 (also a great gun) to afford this one. I was initially torn between the Marauder 63 and the 55 but ultimately went with the 55 because I want to own just one speargun, so M55 seemed like an all-rounder 3-band speargun that wasn't too long in the kelp for chasing WSB or travel but also had the range / power necessary to take some pelagics in blue water. The Saber 55 would also be great for this but it was past my budget. I even added a rest tab for giving me the open for "underpowered" shots on reef fish but realized that it was unnecessary and honestly just gets in the way/increases drag (best to just use one band on the normal tab location for this, because of the band placement).
In the water, I was suprised by how easy the Marauder 55 is to move around. Despite having more mass it feels easier to swing than my prior Euro 110 gun... which is honestly nice especially when chasing WSB in thick kelp where too much length on a gun gets annoying. I credit this to the cuttlefish design. The trigger sits further out than the Euro or Competitor series which takes some getting used to but besides that the grip is almost identical.
First shot ever was on a large grouper in Mexico (100 plus lbs). I shot it with a double flopper, and to my utter suprise the shaft was not bent after a pretty hectic fight with this fish that drug me all around the water. I've bent a few of the 7.1mm shafts on my old Euro so I was…
