Mask Care: Stay Clear Out There

Your mask is your window underwater - if it fogs or leaks, the whole dive is affected. A little prep and proper care go a long way toward keeping your vision clear and your focus where it belongs. Follow these simple steps to keep your gear dialed and ready for every drop.
-
Stop the fog from day one
New masks have a factory film that may cause fogging. Clean the inside lenses with a degreasing dish soap before first use, rinse thoroughly, then apply a small drop of our anti-fog gel. Spread evenly, quick rinse, dive clear. Repeat each session. -
Rinse it, every time.
Salt, sand, and sunscreen build up fast—fresh water keeps your view sharp and your seal solid. -
Hands off the inside
Skin oils lead to fogging—keep the inside clean once prepped.. -
Shade, not sun
Let it dry out of direct sunlight. Heat can warp your skirt and cut its life short. -
Store with care
Don’t just toss it in a bin. Store it where it won’t get crushed or scratched. -
Keep it cool
Avoid hot cars—excess heat can compromise fit and seal. -
Check before you drop in
Ensure a clean skirt and proper seal for a distraction-free dive.
RESOURCE CONSERVATION IS A RIFFE HUNTING PHILOSOPHY
In Jay’s days of participating in spearfishing competitions, he eventually was saddened by the amount of fish that were taken, both large and small. Jay recognized the devastating effects. There would be none left for the future generations. This shaped his vision to adopt the practice of taking only what is needed for consumption.
“All divers should protect the waters they swim and hunt in, ensuring future divers the experience and excitement of freediving that I’ve had over the past seventy years. I strive to produce high quality, spearfishing and diving equipment capable of handling any condition. Selective Divers set their sights on those few prize fish for consumption. Be Selective, Fish for the Future.” – Jay Riffe
